What is this?

This is an oracle for solo rpgs that uses the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot and some personal interpretation of how to expand the classic take on the cards for a generalized roleplaying oracle.

Or at least, will be. First I'm just building the infrastructure and winging it. As I work out prompts and such, I'll add in more details.

CURRENTLY: It draws two cards because I like to use double oracles in my games. The idea is to combine them, contrast them, read one as a subsection of the other, or just pick one. It has about a 50% chance of inverting the card. And the first one is always Major Arcana while the second is a full stack.

CREDITS/USAGE

The images of Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot are taken from luciellaes' Rider-Waite Smith Tarot Cards (CC0). Use that link if you would like your own copy to build into your virtual table top or to make a tool like this — though probably better.

UPCOMING PLANS

• Add a basic prompt of a few words or a short phrase per card, including the inverted variations.
• Possibly add a more complex prompt for something like "location" or "character, but that's a big maybe. I'd probably come up with a page for it or some such and then link to that rather than cluttering up the script and making it harder to update.
• Someday figure out how to make a proper pre-caching script so loading is all at the front-end. Everything I've tried has at best worked with some browsers.
• POTENTIALLY: Add a few option buttons [alter number of cards, turn off inversion, set up a few patterns for when to use Major vs Minor Arcana.
